Free Time

Hugo's been busy with his Circus Workshop & Cornwall Alternative Teens group over the last couple of days, so we decided to take the two days off work...
 
Yesterday we were in Falmouth & this headland is called Pendennis Point...
 Henry VIII had Pendennis Castle built back in 1540 just above the headland, but it's very well hidden!

The sea was a lovely colour...

This is the lookout for the castle...

Some years ago, Sime & the kids saw seals in the sea here, but there weren't any yesterday!

The village across the water is St Mawes & another of Henry VIII's castles is just on the left.
We think the large sailing boat is one of the Tall Ships Of Charlestown, we see them quite often near to where we live. 
The speed boat looked like it should be moored in St Tropez!

 
Lots of activity & that's St Anthony's Lighthouse on the right.

The day was finished off with a treat...

Says it all...

Today we ventured over to the North Coast... 
St Agnes - another place we haven't visited for years!

Just down the road is Trevaunance Cove, a popular place for surfers...

We then walked up the steep road...

A lovely little haven...

Called The Sugar Shack

We then carried on walking up the steep footpath into St Agnes.
We love the name of this row of cottages...

We'd forgotten just how green it is here...

On the way back down to the cove we visited this little antique shack...

We ate here & forgot to photograph it...
But we can recommend their houmous, rocket & roasted pepper sandwiches!

An interesting old pub...

And this is where they make their beer (across from the pub).

After 2 days of fresh air & walks...
The old man was tired!

It's been nice not working...
Think we should do it more often!!!

    Glad you got some R and R time together. It recharges your sprits doesnt it, when it's been all work and no play?
    And what better place to enjoy a day off. I am eager to get down there myself in Septmeber :-D
    I loved all the photos, especially the sugar shack!

    Some brilliant photo's taken there! Very artistic. Falmouth's a great place to visit. A bit out of context, but have you ever been to Hornsea Freeport per chance? Some of the photo's there look a lot like Hornsea Freeport. If you haven't been, I'd strongly recommend going down there. I'll leave the URL with my name so you can have a look yourself :)

    Wow looks as though you have had a good time. Not been to St Agnes or St Mawes or Trevaunance Cove will have to check it out if I ever manage to get down to Cornwall on holiday. Am off to a place called Kipford Dumfries and Galloway for the week tomorrow evening travelling up at night as we always do. Am in sore need of some R and R - OH and his sister will be fishing no doubt - my back is still bad so I don't think I will be having a go this time round but I am taking some books and some needlework with me to do whilst they are indulging their passion. Take care and try and have a few more rest days soon I like it when you two play hooky.

    Mel - And we're dreaming of visiting Canada at the moment... We've been looking at house sitting jobs for the winter - yes we are mad! We could do a blog special: Just Humans Being In Mel's Backyard!!!

    Kath - There's so many nice places, Port Isaac is great & is near to Tintagel, Boscastle, Crackington Haven, then there's Wadebridge & Padstow... You'll have a great time!

    DOIY - We've heard of Hornsea, but never been... We need to do a tour of the UK!

    Pattypan - Have a great time & make sure you take plenty of photos! We love Scotland. Hope you get the rest you need & that your back feels better soon. Take care... x

Some of you know about my fight with Graves Disease, an auto immune system disorder, which causes an overactive thyroid. Since I was diagnosed 7 years ago, I have made it my business to know everything I possibly could about the condition & this has probably saved my life. Our Neighbours

The ladies next door have been giving birth in the field. Their babies are like any other babies - they sleep, they feed, they follow their mums everywhere, they run around, then fall asleep again.  These little beauties are completely unaware of their fate... But we know... And this is one thing which makes living here difficult. How can people eat other beings without feeling terrible?     It just doesn't make sense. Nettles

Our garden yesterday.
