Out Of Hibernation



Happy New Year to you all!

We've had quite a difficult time with Bebe...
She is not the same person who moved in with us just over a year ago & since starting with a chest infection just before Christmas - she has lost her appetite & a stone in weight! Penicillin has perked her up a little, but we've had lots of sleepless nights which are just exhausting for all of us!

Saying this, it hasn't stopped us from having some lovely times with family & friends over the holiday period...

While staying in Bishop's Castle we had a meet up with friends, Shelley & Kelli in Wales... 
Sime was in Shelley's band - The Hidden Persuaders back in the early 90s & after losing touch, they found each other on facebook a couple of years ago. This time we got to meet her fabulous Wife too & enjoyed a lovely afternoon chat, coffee & cake!

A flying visit to Stoke & a lovely evening spent with Gerry & Brenda (AKA Nana Stip-Pep).
Brenda is recovering from an accident in the summer, but is determined & we were so happy to finally have an opportunity to see them.

Then it was down to Bristol for a visit with a very hungover Sal & Ryan!
We actually went into Bath for the last day of their German Market & a bite to eat.

Our final destination was a visit to Glastonbury to see our friends Kath & Jim. 
We spent a wonderful time - catching up & feasting...  
With great reluctance, we had to peel ourselves away to return home!

After a few days of trying to juggle work & caring for a very agitated Bebe - it was decided that she should go into respite for the weekend... 
Which meant we got to enjoy a chilled out Solstice get-together with the rest of the kidlets... 
Though we all missed Sal & Ryan, but will be having our proper get-together for Hugo's Birthday & our usual late Secret Santa exchange!

Bebe returned home for Christmas, but really wasn't well.

Rose & Asa were able to return too, so we enjoyed some great games of Trivial Pursuit & Articulate, as well as feasting (of course)...

And they made a splendid job of decorating our tree, which this year is just a branch we found on the roadside near home & as always - will stay up until Hugo's Birthday later this month.

We have struggled to find time for everything, hopefully Bebe's improved health will make a difference & we do hope to get back to normal soon.

Some of you know about my fight with Graves Disease, an auto immune system disorder, which causes an overactive thyroid. Since I was diagnosed 7 years ago, I have made it my business to know everything I possibly could about the condition & this has probably saved my life. Our Neighbours

The ladies next door have been giving birth in the field. Their babies are like any other babies - they sleep, they feed, they follow their mums everywhere, they run around, then fall asleep again.  These little beauties are completely unaware of their fate... But we know... And this is one thing which makes living here difficult. How can people eat other beings without feeling terrible?     It just doesn't make sense. Nettles

Our garden yesterday.
